Where we practice
Our catchment area includes the North Simcoe-North Dufferin
area and is bordered on the west by Highway 124, touching
south along Highway 89 at Shelburne through Angus to
Highway 11 north of Barrie. The east side borders Highway
12 between Orillia and Waubashene and around Nottawasaga
Bay, incorporating the Midland and Penetanguishene area
of Huronia. Regardless of where you live, you are welcome
to come into our care if you plan to give birth at either
the Collingwood or Orillia hospitals, or at another
location within our catchment area. PDF

Collingwood Clinic
Our main clinic space is located at 9811 A Highway 26
East, in Collingwood. Here we see women for prenatal
visits, and women and babies for postpartum visits.
We maintain an extensive library of DVDs and books on
topics related to pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and
parenting (Client Resources).
In addition we have a collection of the current research
related to various childbearing topics to aid clients
in making informed decisions about their care. Occasionally
there are also workshops and prenatal classes run by
local childbirth educators in our space.

Orillia Clinic
We offer a weekly clinic day in Orillia, at the Simcoe
Muskoka District Health Unit at 575 West Street South.
Our entire library inventory is online so that our Orillia
and area clients can request the clinic midwife to bring
books or DVDs of interest to that location. Currently
our clinic day in Orillia is Tuesdays. We are very pleased
to be able to offer local care to our clients and their
families in Orillia.

Your Home
We see women and babies for postpartum visits in their
homes during the first two weeks after the birth. In
addition, we offer one prenatal home visit for women
planning a home birth. Home is offered as a choice of
birth place for all low risk women. We value providing
care in the community and see it as central to providing
woman and family centred care.
Collingwood General and Marine Hospital
All of the midwives at Midwives Nottawasaga hold privileges
at CGMH, which is located at 459 Hume Street in Collingwood.
CGMH is a level one hospital with 2 Obstetricians on
staff, and a labour and delivery unit with 5 birthing
rooms. The G&M provides same room maternity care - mother
labours and delivers and baby and mother are cared for
all in the same large, comfortable room. These five
private rooms are equipped to handle routine labours
and births, except caesarean births. This is a family
centred environment where baby remains with mother in
her room. More information about CGMH is available at
www.cgmh.on.ca.

Orillia Soldiers and Memorial Hospital
All of the Midwives at Midwives Nottawasaga hold privileges
at OSMH, which is located at 170 Colborne Street West
in Orillia. Our clients who choose hospital birth in
the Orillia region travel to OSMH for their births.
OSMH is also our Level II referral hospital, where women
with higher risk pregnancies or babies requiring additional
care are admitted. OSMH has paediatricians on staff
who provide perinatal care, and a neonatal intensive
care nursery. Birthing and New Family Services (BaNFS)
follows the 'Family-Centered Maternity Care' approach
where personal, cultural and religious choices are considered
and respected. While here, mom and baby are taken care
of as a single 'combined care' unit. The BaNFS department
includes an outpatient clinic for assessments, a 13-bed
unit, as well as four birthing rooms and a high-risk
delivery room. More information about OSMH is available
at www.osmh.on.ca.
